Zacory Nathaniel Boatright
A native of Topeka, KS and a Topeka High School alumni. I attended the University of Kansas and studied English Literature and Creative Writing with an emphasis on Play Writing.
I currently work as the Digital Marketing Manager for Scottsdale Arts where I spend my days serving Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale Arts Festival, Scottsdale International Film Festival, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and the Scottsdale Public Art Program. Through its three divisions, Scottsdale Arts produces, presents and hosts approximately 1,800 events annually serving more than 375,000 Scottsdale residents and visitors, while fostering the active engagement of government, businesses, education and the private sector with the arts. I also consult on the side as the New Media Solutions Expert for Engaged Video, where I work with clients to identify new methods of leveraging technology to engage their communities in person and online.
As the former Director of Sales & Business Development at Arizona Theatre Company, I spent a year enhancing the sales and client engagement process at ATC. I focused on improving the sales department’s operating efficiency by working with company leadership to rethink the client purchase process online and in person. I audited the company’s sales and IT infrastructure, then restructured the sales department to operate within budget. I hired a new IT Service provider and audited ATC’s ticketing platform. I worked with the Director of Marketing to revise all of ATC’s social and web platforms, and revised the strategic model for ATC’s usage of social media. When I arrived at ATC I discovered that the staff had been suffering under ineffective business practices and failing technology. Prior to my departure I executed a major upgrade to 87% of the company’s desktop computers, networking infrastructure, and server configurations. I coordinated the migration of the company’s email platform to the cloud by deploying Google Apps and saw an unprecedented increase in operating capacity and efficiency thanks to the implementation of those strategic changes.
Prior to ATC I was the Director of Business Development at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. While there I specialized in the development of new partnerships with companies in the Washington DC metro area. In less than three years I founded and built a successful rental business for Woolly, created new sales practices and policies that resulted in significant revenue generation, and contributed meaningful business growth.
Before I went to work in the non-profit arts sector I spent five years as a sales engineer for Alpha Video & Audio’s CastNET team. Three of those years were spent working out of Alpha’s offices in Edina, MN. I then launched a private consultancy and subsequently spent the next two years working for the CastNET team from Washington, DC while developing relationships in the arts community.
As a Sales Engineer for CastNET I worked with casinos throughout the continental United States and internationally in China, Italy, Greece, and The Netherlands. I helped develop new business relationships with key enterprise clients that included: Delta Airlines, Medtronic, Ecolab, Hines, Federal Reserve Bank, and Adobe. I designed, pitched, and implemented digital marketing and audience engagement technology platforms in client facilities around the world.
Under the banner of Boatright Consulting I have built innovative business systems designed to generate new revenue. Performed audience development and forged partnerships for arts organizations struggling to find a voice in their community. Acted as a brand ambassador for a non-profit theatre and cultivated relationships with Fortune 500 companies. For even more information please visit my LinkedIn profile.
In my spare time I write plays, fiction, and play the saxophone. I currently reside in Phoenix, AZ with my wife Mary and our pets.
